Bridget Mayer is an experienced physician assistant with a career spanning over 35 years in conventional medicine specializing in primary care and internal medicine. In the last six years she has undergone training in the field of functional medicine, gaining certification through the Institute of Functional Medicine and The Functional Medicine Academy. She has spent the majority of her career in Central New York, however she did work at Yale University caring for the University employees for 6 years while residing in Connecticut. She has always been passionate about teaching her patients wellness and prevention but finds it difficult to fully accomplish this in the conventional medicine model. With the Functional Medicine model, she is better able to spend the additional time needed to get to know her patients better and have them be more involved in the solutions, for a more patient-centered care. Additionally, Functional Medicine gets to the root cause of health problems as opposed to treating symptoms which is so often done in conventional care. Beyond her professional pursuits, Bridget has diverse outside interests. Nature is a significant part of her life, and she enjoys hiking, biking, snowshoeing and paddleboarding in the scenic Adirondacks. In addition, she has creative outlets, such as making jewelry, and a commitment to organic gardening, cooking, and personal fitness, reflecting a holistic approach that extends to her personal life.
