In a recent interview for the Synergy Center newsletter, Chris DeAmicis was asked about her upcoming trip to India. Below are her responses.
Question: Why are you going to India?
Chris: I am going to study yoga, at the birthplace of yoga. I want to learn more about yoga, yoga philosophy and yoga wisdom.
Question: Where will you be staying?
Chris: I will be living at the Sattva Yoga Center in Rishikesh, India. Rishikesh is a small village in the foot of the Himalayas. It is known as the birthplace of yoga.
Question: When will you go and how long will you be there?
Chris: I am leaving January 10, 2015 and I'll return January 27th. I'll be at the Sattva Center for two weeks.
Question: Can you tell us more about the Sattva Yoga Center?
Chris: Yes. The Sattva Center was founded by Anand Mehrotra. Anand was born and raised in Rishikesh. He is a Yoga Master and the Master teacher at the Sattva Yoga Center.
Question: Will you be studying with Anand?
Chris: Yes. Our two week program is called "Warriors of Wisdom." Anand will be our Master teacher. The program will include daily yoga, meditation and wisdom talks with Anand. We will also participate in hikes in the Himalayas, sacred ceremonies, music, dance, and visiting mountain villages, caves and local schools.
Question: You said you were going back to India. Were you there before?
Chris: Yes. I traveled there in November of 2012, almost two years ago. I was fulfilling a requirement toward earning my RYT 500 (Registered Yoga Teacher with 500 hours training.) I went with a group of 25 yoga teachers from the US. We stayed in Delhi, saw the Taj Mahal, and spent some time in the Parmarth Ashram. We also spent about a week at the Sattva Center where we participated in yoga classes taught by Anand.
Question: Will you be traveling alone?
Chris: No. I am going to India with my friend Julie Walenta. Julie and I trained together under Ravi Singh and Ana Brett, completeing 200 hours of Kundalini Yoga Teacher training here in Manlius.
Question: Is there anything else you would like us to know?
Chris: I am very much looking forward to being in Rishikesh and living at the Sattva Center. It will be an honor and a privilege to learn from Anand. He is truly a gifted Yoga Master.
